"Love never fails"

What Would Elvis Say?

In the Bible passage, where this phrase occurs (2 Corinthians 5:15), the main theme is reconciliation. Jesus came to reconcile men to God, and those who want to live for Christ are urged to be ambassadors for God, to represent God on earth and have a ministry of reconciliation.

Love
When we accept that Jesus died for us, so that we can be reconciled to God we need to start to live for Him; to live our lives God's way not our own way. But what is God's way? The Bible says that God is love; therefore His way is the way of love. God didn't put us on earth and leave us stranded without any guidance. He teaches us how he wants us to live in the Bible. The basic rules for living a satisfying, successful life are the Ten Commandments, which the Lord gave to Moses on Mount Sinai. They can be found in the Bible in Exodus Chapter 20. When Jesus was asked which was the greatest commandment, he said to love the Lord your God and second to love your neighbour (Matthew 22:36-39)
Jesus loves us and tells us how to remain in his love, by obeying his commands and loving one another. (John 15: 1-17)

Be Just, Merciful and Humble

The Bible also teaches us "And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." (Micah 6:8)

Pray
Another very important aspect of Christian lifestyle is prayer. This is conversation with God. Sometimes we don't know how to pray. Jesus taught his disciples how to pray. This is what he said:
"This then is how you should pray:
' Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our debts,
As we have also forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. Amen

Also make sure that you have asked the Lord to come into your life by saying this prayer, sometimes called "the sinner's prayer":

Dear God, I believe that you love me and that you sent your son, Jesus, to die for me, so that I can have a good relationship with you. Please forgive me for all the wrong things I have said, thought or done. I ask you Jesus, by the power of your Holy Spirit to come into my life right now. From now on I want to live the joyful, peaceful life you have promised me. Amen

If you have prayed this prayer, then please contact us so that we can pray for you as you start your exciting new life with the Lord.

Make sure you have access to a Bible
If you are serious about learning to live for Christ, then you will need to have constant access to a Bible. There are many good translations. Some people prefer the "old fashioned" King James Version, which has some very beautiful language. Others prefer the more modern language of the New International Version. We at Elvis Gospel have seven different translations and we use them all. It is good sometimes to compare different translations to get the full meaning of the passage you are studying.

Join your local church
If you are not already a member of a church fellowship, pray and ask the Lord, which of your local churches you should join. There are many different kinds of Christian churches, all believing in the same Lord Jesus, but preferring different ways of worshipping and/or focussing on different ministries.
